In view of the upcoming elections, the Birgunj-based Nepali Army's Shree Jang Battalion has intensified regular and special patrols to strengthen peace and security in Parsa.

A battalion source said that motorcycle, vehicle and foot patrols have been effectively mobilized with the aim of establishing quick access to all areas of the district and providing immediate response.

Patrols have been further expanded as per the security strategy to conduct the elections in a free, fair and fear-free environment. The battalion informed that 24-hour surveillance has been maintained throughout the district and security mechanisms have been mobilized to immediately control any emergency situation.

Continuous surveillance has been increased around the main market area, crowded places, sensitive areas and polling stations through motorcycle patrols. The army believes that this has increased the sense of security among the general public and has played an important role in controlling potential criminal activities.

The battalion has stated that patrols have been conducted on motorcycles and armored vehicles in the Ghantaghar, Adarshnagar, Chhapakaiya, Bypass, Murali, Powerhouse, Dryport and Ranighat areas of Birgunj metropolis since around 1:30 pm on Sunday. In addition, regular patrols are also being carried out by COBs and POBs under the battalion in other places in the district.
