The District Administration Office, Bara, has banned the sale, distribution, transportation, and consumption of alcohol in public places across the district from Friday, keeping in mind the Fagu festival and election security.
Assistant Chief District Officer Chhabiraman Bhattarai said that the ban has been imposed until the final results of the vote counting are in order to conduct the election in a peaceful, clean and fear-free environment.
The ban was imposed in a public notice on Thursday. He also said that all Nepal-India border crossings in the district will be closed from midnight on Falgun 18 to midnight on the election day on Falgun 21.
He said that on the election day, that is, Thursday, Falgun 21, vehicles other than those with permits will not be allowed to ply. Assistant Chief District Officer Bhattarai said that all vehicles except ambulances, diplomatic missions, milk, medicine, drinking water tankers, drinking water and sewage maintenance, hearses, electrical and telecommunication services, and security agency vehicles have been banned.
