Police have filed a case of criminal mischief and arson against 22 people arrested on Monday on charges of involvement in the vandalism and arson incidents that took place during a clash in the Sabgadha area of Gaur Municipality-6.
Half a dozen vehicles and some houses were vandalized and set on fire during the clash between the two parties on Friday and Saturday. They were arrested on Saturday evening immediately after the incident. A case has been registered against the arrested people under the crime of criminal mischief and arson and an investigation has been launched, informed District Police DSP Bishnapradhip Basyal.
During the investigation, the police said that two more people, Shubh Narayan Sah and Samir Miya, were taken into custody from Sabgadha on Monday. The police said that the court has extended the remand period against the 22 people involved in the incident and has started an investigation. On Friday, a clash broke out between the two parties over the loud playing of a DJ by a group of people going to a wedding in Sabgadha village.
After the clashes escalated, the local administration had issued a curfew order in the Gaur area from 1 pm on Saturday. Motorcycles and cars were set on fire during the clashes. Some houses were also vandalized. Chief District Officer Dinesh Sagar Bhusal informed that the curfew was lifted on Monday morning after a goodwill rally led by civil society.
