Shiva Kumari Mandal, 35, of Rajbiraj-15, Masharania, Saptari, was discharged on Saturday night after the treatment expenses were paid, said Dipendra Kumar Yadav, information officer of the hospital.
Shivakumari Mandal, 35, of Rajbiraj-15, Masharniya, Saptari, who could not be discharged even after four days of treatment due to financial constraints, returned home on Saturday night.
After the news was made public in 'Kantipur', the Chinnamasta Rural Municipality paid her treatment expenses on Saturday night.
The vehicle driven by Chinnamasta Rural Municipality Chairman Bidyananda Chaudhary hit her on Monday evening at Rajbiraj-2, Tetrigachhi on the Rajbiraj-Hanumannagar road section. Chairman Chaudhary himself had admitted the injured Mandal to Chinnamasta Hospital, Rajbiraj.
Mandal had recovered last Wednesday after treatment. However, since Rural Municipality Chairman Chaudhary did not return to the hospital and Mandal, who is financially destitute, could not pay the treatment expenses, she remained in the hospital. Hospital Information Officer Dipendra Kumar Yadav informed that she was discharged on Saturday night after the treatment expenses were paid. According to him, the expenses for treatment, medicine, and canteen amounted to 21,500 rupees.
