Police arrested four people with the drug brown sugar from Ganesh Chowk in Chandrapur Municipality-4, Rautahat, on Sunday evening.
A team from the Area Police Office Chandranigahapur arrested 32-year-old Tul Bahadur Lama of Chandrapur-1, Bagmati, 23-year-old Priya Tamang of Udayapur Gaighat, 35-year-old Raj Balam Pakhrin Magar of Chandrapur-4, and 29-year-old Prashant Tamang of Udayapur with brown sugar.
Priya of Udayapur had been staying at the house of Durga Bahadur Ghale of Ganesh Chowk in Chandrapur-4. When the police initially searched Tul Bahadur Lama's body, they found a Rs 5 folded and blade used to consume brown sugar in the pocket of the jeans he was wearing. He was taken into custody and questioned, and he revealed the names of the other three people. DSP Rupa Labung informed that Priya, Raj and Prashant were arrested based on the Lama's statement.
The police had recovered a machine for weighing brown sugar and a black plastic piece used to store brown sugar from their residence. While questioning the arrested, the police arrived after receiving information that Prashant and the drugs he was hiding were in the room of Amrit Ghising's house in Chandrapur-1.
Prashant was taken into custody along with 240 milligrams of brown sugar kept in a black plastic container in the corner of the same house. DSP Labung said that further investigation into the incident is underway.
