Thirteen people, including leader Indrajit Yadav, have been taken out of prison and brought into police custody.
Guns and bullets have been recovered from the prison located in Siraha district headquarters. A gun and two rounds of bullets were found inside the prison during a monitoring conducted by the District Security Committee on Monday.
Along with this, cigarettes, tobacco and other banned substances have also been confiscated from the prison. Similarly, 13 people, including Naike Indrajit Yadav, have been taken out of the prison and brought into police custody on charges of involvement in this.
Preparations are underway to send them to prisons elsewhere, informed Siraha Chief District Officer Surendra Poudel. 'We have taken them out of the prison and detained them,' he said, 'We will send them elsewhere.'
Kantipur had reported last year with evidence about illegal activities, including the sale of alcohol and drugs, and the collection of money in the name of phone calls and donations, in the prison with the connivance of the police administration.
Following Kantipur's news, the investigation committee formed under the command of the DSP of the Nepal Police submitted a 90-page investigation report to the District Security Committee. However, after criticism came from the administration, which has been reluctant to implement the report, an operation was launched in the prison on Monday.
