Transport businessmen attacked a joint team of the Armed Police Force and Birgunj Customs who were returning from a warehouse in the Adarshnagar area of Birgunj on Monday morning after recovering smuggled goods.
The incident took place at around 10:30 am. The attack came on a joint team of the Armed Police Force, Armed Police Force No. 13 Battalion Headquarters, Parsa, and Birgunj Customs, who were returning from the warehouse of Madan Prasad Gupta after recovering clothes worth Rs 500,000. The attack broke the glass of the Armed Police Force van. Some Armed Police Force personnel also sustained minor injuries. A video of the incident is going viral on social media. In the video, the crowd gathered there is seen attacking the Armed Police Force vehicle and the police personnel with bamboo sticks. Armed Police sources said that the recovered clothes have been taken to the Birgunj Customs Office.
