Mustaq Alam of Paroha Municipality-3, the driver of the car carrying Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate for Rautahat Constituency No. 2, Sheikh Sagir Alam, was taken to the District Court on Friday to file a case of vehicular homicide and extend the time limit for investigation.

The police have found CCTV footage of the incident that took place when Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Alam was campaigning. Police station Mathia had lied that there was no Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) door-to-door campaign.

After the girl was hit in Mathia village, locals brought the girl to the district headquarters Gaur in the same car for treatment. The driver absconded after seeing the girl's serious condition at the hospital. The police took the driver into custody about 4 hours after the incident.

Alfa Khatun, the 4-year-old daughter of Mohammad Sagir of Mathiatol in Ishnath Municipality-4, died on Thursday afternoon when a car (Ba 15 Cha 4244) carrying Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Alam hit her.

Police have brought CCTV footage of a mosque near the incident for investigation. In the footage, the girl is seen running across the road as the RSP candidate's car is entering the village. However, the driver does not stop the car and drives straight ahead, running over the girl with the left wheel and she falls on the road.

Locals picked up the girl and immediately brought her to the City Hospital in Gaur for treatment. The police of Mathiya Police Station lied by saying that there was no party door-to-door program in the village. Police Assistant Inspector Narayan Kurmi of the police station said that he did not know about the RSP's door-to-door program and told his staff that.

RSP candidate Alam had posted on social media that he was busy with a door-to-door program when he hit the girl and that only the driver was in the car.

District Police DSP Bishnu Pradeep Basyal informed that the deceased's father has registered a complaint for action against the vehicle that hit the girl and the driver and is going to extend the time limit for the driver from the court. "We are investigating by looking at the CCTV footage," he said. "The investigation will reveal whether the driver was negligent in the incident." After a 4-year-old girl died after being hit by a vehicle used for election campaigning, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) has expressed grief over the incident and said it will fully cooperate with the administration in the investigation.
