A prisoner who escaped from Kathmandu Central Jail during the Gen-G movement has been arrested in Birgunj.

The arrested person is Prabin Chaurasia, 23, of Nagwa, Birgunj-16. Chaurasia, who was sentenced by the court in a fraud case, was arrested by the police from Ramnagar Chowk, Birgunj-15 at 2 pm on Wednesday.

A joint team deployed from the District Police Office Parsa's verdict implementation team and the police post Buspark took him into custody. Chaurasia was sentenced to 5 years and 6 months in prison and a fine of Rs 87,500 in a fraud case by the court. After the arrest, he was handed over to the Birgunj Prison Office after completing the necessary legal procedures, according to Parsa Police Spokesperson DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet.
