The election symbols and materials, including the pylons, that candidates and political parties had placed and hung at the intersections of Rajbiraj Municipality in Saptari, in violation of the election code of conduct, have been removed.

The District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee held a meeting last Tuesday after it was found that materials including pylons were being hung in public places in violation of the election code of conduct.

In that meeting, the candidates and party representatives also agreed to remove the materials that violated the code of conduct. However, as per the agreement, they did not remove the materials within 24 hours.

On Thursday morning, the District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee itself removed the materials including pylons with election symbols placed at the intersections of Rajbiraj. “As per the decision of the committee held this morning, we have removed the materials placed in public places in violation of the code of conduct,” said the committee’s coordinator, Chief Election Officer District Judge Kishor Ghimire.

The Election Commission has implemented the election code of conduct from midnight on Magh 4 for the upcoming election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on Falgun 21. However, some candidates and party leaders/workers here have violated the code of conduct by placing pylons, flags, signs, posters, and other materials on government buildings, schools, monuments, street poles, or public places.
