There are 37 days left for the House of Representatives elections to be held on Falgun 21. The Election Commission has implemented the code of conduct from midnight on Magh 4 for a free, fair and fear-free election.
However, Janamat Party Chairman Chandrakant (CK) Raut has been found to have violated the code of conduct in Saptari Constituency No. 2, where he has filed his candidacy.
Party-affiliated leaders/activists have violated the code of conduct and erected election symbol pylons at the main intersections of Rajbiraj on Monday night. Pylons have been erected at Gajendra Chowk and at the intersections there. Pylons with the Janamat Party's election symbol have also been erected on the roads from the chowk to Neta Chowk to the south and on the roads around Neta Chowk.
Despite the ongoing violations of the election code of conduct, the police are ignoring the pylons of the party's election symbol even when they are on duty, while everyone else, including the coordinator of the district code of conduct monitoring committee, the Chief Election Officer, the co-coordinator, and the Chief District Officer, are silent.
Chief District Officer Tubaraj Pokharel said that he is currently preparing to discuss the election code of conduct with the parties. 'According to the election code of conduct, pylons should not be erected, we will strictly enforce the code of conduct,' he said.
District Code of Conduct Monitoring Committee Coordinator Chief Election Officer District Judge Kishor Ghimire said that he has called political parties and candidates for a discussion on the issue of following the election code of conduct. 'Some solution will emerge from that,' he said.
Chapter 4 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082, mentions the conduct to be followed by political parties, candidates, sister organizations of the party and concerned persons. Point No. 1 (x) of it states that a pylon of the party flag or the election symbol of the party or candidate should not be erected or displayed in public.
