The body taken for postmortem in Siraha has disappeared from the hospital. The body of 16-year-old Nisha Baniya of Jamdaha, Golbazar Municipality-3, has disappeared from the hospital.
Nisha was found hanging in her own house at around 10 am last Saturday. The police had taken her body to the provincial hospital in Lahan for an autopsy and postmortem.
However, when she went to the hospital to get the body, Nisha's body was not there and the hospital asked to take the body of another girl, so her relatives have now staged a protest on the East-West Highway in Golbazar.
Medical Superintendent of the hospital, Ranjit Jha, claimed that a similar body had arrived from Khadak Municipality in Saptari on Saturday and that they had mistakenly taken Nisha's body on Sunday. They have already cremated Nisha's body and the body of the girl from Saptari is still here.
Spokesperson and DSP of the District Police Office, Siraha, Ramesh Bahadur Pal, informed that an investigation is underway in this matter. 'We have started an investigation into this matter,' he said, 'This should not have happened, how it happened will be revealed after the investigation.'
