One person has died in a land dispute in Siraha. Local Azamuddin Sheikh died in a land dispute at Manharwa Chowk in Karjanha Municipality-10.

After Sheikh's death, relatives and locals have been protesting by blocking the East-West Highway. Even though the police tried to open the highway, it was not possible. Due to this, traffic has been stopped.

According to Sheikh's relative Mohammad Saddam Hussain, a squatter family has been living on the public land of Manharwa Chowk for about 35 years. At that time, they were living in makeshift houses and recently they have been building concrete houses.

However, some locals living on the land behind the land where the squatters are living have been pressuring them to vacate the land and not build concrete houses. However, when they refused, local trustee Gain and others brought a restraining order from the court.

Although the court had only asked them to stop the work immediately, the trustee, including locals Ramdayal Sah, Dinesh Mahaseth and others, vandalized the house in the presence of the police on Sunday afternoon and when they tried to stop it, the trustee beat up Azamuddin, according to the locals.

DSP Rajesh Raj Puri of the Mirchaiya Area Police Office said that efforts are being made to search for those involved in the incident, investigate and clear the highway.
