Mystery of murder of three senior citizens solved, another 'suspicious' death

What you should know

Even after 7 years since the murder of a senior citizen couple in Kharachuhiya, Khadak Municipality-5, Saptari, the killer has still not been identified.

On Falgun 2, 2075, Saburi Sah, 75, and his wife Bechni Devi, 65, were burned to death in their own house at night. The locals informed the police only after finding out in the morning. Since their bodies were completely burnt, the Area Police Office Kalyanpur, Kadarbona, and the District Police Office and the Provincial Police Office had jointly started an investigation.

The then SP Rajendra Bista confirmed that the murder had been committed and had started an investigation with the help of trained dogs. However, even after 7 years, the police have not been able to find the killer and the reason for the incident has not been revealed.

On Kartik 2, 70-year-old Ramdular Das (Sah) was shot dead by an unknown person in Rajpatti, Bode Barsain Municipality-8 of the district. A follower of Kabir Panth, he had been living in a small house made of terracotta built on his own land for 10-12 years, separate from his family, and was planning to build a center (religious building) nearby to propagate Kabir Panth.

He was shot dead on the spot by an unknown person about 10-15 meters from his house. He was shot from behind and hit in the side of his head. Two shell casings were also recovered from the spot. An investigation was launched there with the help of trained dogs, but the killer has not been found yet.

The latest suspicious death of 85-year-old Asrfi Sah of Khadak Municipality-7 Kalyanpur in the district last Sunday night is also mysterious. Sah was found dead the next day while sleeping in his own house at night. Since his death seemed suspicious, a trained dog has been brought in from the Provincial Police Office and an investigation has been started there too.

However, even after a week, the mystery of the incident has not been solved. District Police Office spokesperson DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri said that it will be clear after the post-mortem report comes. "In the initial stages, we have questioned the sons of the deceased Sah and other family members," he said, adding, "Further investigation is underway." The deceased Sah, who comes from a wealthy family, has three sons, Prabhunath, Vishwanath and Jogendra. The deceased Sah was living with his youngest son, Jogendra.
