The bereaved family has received financial assistance following the death of Umesh Khang of Gorpar, Kanchanrup Municipality-3, Saptari, who had been earning a living by working as a wage laborer.

Umesh, 32, died of a heart attack last Friday while working as a laborer. The family received help after the news in ‘Kantipur’ went public about the difficulties facing Khang’s wife Daropati Kumari and 25-day-old daughter Neha Kumari to cover their expenses and pay for groceries.

Om Narayan Rai of Sanodumma, Rural Municipality-5, Poubadung, Bhojpur, provided 25,000 rupees in cash to the Khang family. The amount provided by Rai, who has been living in London for 25 years, was handed over to the family on Friday by 82-year-old Dhundiraj Shrestha, a senior citizen of the same village.

Khang, who could not buy warm clothes for his newborn daughter due to financial constraints, had reached Rupnagar in Ward 12 to buy clothes during the extreme cold wave to repair the roof. While working on the roof, Umesh’s limbs stopped moving. After fainting there, he was taken to Dhameshwor Hospital for treatment, but treatment was not possible there. He died on the way to Kanchanpur Hospital for further treatment.
