Madhesh Province Chief Surendra Labh Karna has appointed Singh of Sarlahi Ishwarpur Municipality-4 as the Chief Advocate on the recommendation of Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav, the provincial chief's office has said.

The government was formed last month under the leadership of Chief Minister Yadav. The post was vacant after the resignation of the previous Chief Advocate with the change of government.

Singh, a resident of Sarlahi Ishwarpur Municipality, has been practicing law for two decades. He has a master's degree in criminal law and justice. He received a doctorate degree on the culture of the Mithila region from Nepal Sanskrit University. Singh has experience working as a member of the Local Level Restructuring Commission and the Commission of Inquiry into Enforced Disappearances. He has also worked as a board member of the Prison Reform Commission and the Peace Fund.
