Parsa UML has recommended 24 candidates from 4 constituencies, including former minister Rajkumar Gupta, who is in custody on charges of bribery in the land grab of a litchi orchard in Batulechaur, Pokhara.

The UML's regional coordination committees have recommended the names of 24 potential candidates for all 4 House of Representatives constituencies in Parsa.

The names of Arvind Singh, Prabhu Hazra, Basarudin Ansari, Indu Ghimire, Sundar Prasad Kurmi, Navraj Sharma and Mamta Gupta have been recommended from constituency number 1.

The names of Nirmala Devkota, Rajkumar Gupta, Arvind Singh and Manoj Kushwaha have been recommended from constituency number 2.

The names of Bhagwan Prasad Kurmi, Manjur Alam, Tej Prakash Nishad, Rambabu Yadav, Pramod Jaiswal, Rajkumar Gupta, Rupesh Pandey, Manju Devi Kurmi, Manir Alam and Shiv Patel have been recommended from constituency number 3. From constituency number 4, there are Zalim Miya, Birendra Prasad Yadav and Gokuli Kumari Regmi. Regmi is also the deputy chief of Thori Rural Municipality.

Former Minister Gupta, who was recommended as a candidate from Constituency No. 3, was ordered to be remanded in custody for trial by a special court on Wednesday in connection with the bribery case in the land embezzlement case of a litchi orchard in Batulechaur, Pokhara. UML District Committee Secretary Mahesh Das said that all the names received from the Regional Coordination Committee were recommended to the Provincial Committee by a meeting of the district committee officials. Das said that the Center will now take a final decision on the candidate after the provincial committee sends its opinion.

Former Minister Gupta, who was convicted by the special court in the land embezzlement case of a litchi orchard, is also being held in custody for trial.
