Sarlahi Police arrested six people on Wednesday for blocking the Malangwa Bazaar in Sarlahi. They are currently in Malangwa Police custody. The police are interrogating the arrested people.

They were arrested while they were closing the Malangwa market on Wednesday morning, said Saroj Kumar Rai, spokesperson and DSP of the District Police, Sarlahi.

‘We are interrogating those who were arrested while closing the market,’ he said, ‘Although there was tension for some time in the morning, the situation is normal now.’ The police have not made the names of those arrested public.

Although the Malangwa market has partially reopened, most of the traders have closed it. DIG Govinda Thapaliya, Chief of the Madhesh Province Police Office, Janakpur, said that although those who were closing the market in Malangwa were arrested in the morning, other districts are calm.
