The curfew imposed in certain areas of Birgunj since Monday evening has been lifted from 3:30 pm on Tuesday.

The District Administration Office issued a statement on Tuesday, stating that the curfew order was lifted due to the consensus reached in the all-party and all-sectoral meetings on Tuesday, the strengthening of the peace and security situation in the district, and the need to facilitate the free movement of citizens, business and other activities, and to make life easier.

The curfew was continued from 6 pm to 8 am on Monday, then from 8 am to 1 pm on Tuesday, and then until 6 pm on Tuesday.

Earlier, the prohibitory order was issued from 1 pm on Monday, but the situation could not be brought under control. Curfew was imposed within the Bypass Road in the east of Birgunj, Sirsia Bridge in the west, Powerhouse Chowk in the north, and Shankaracharya Gate area in the south.

Life in Birgunj is returning to normal after the curfew was lifted. The Muslim community of Birgunj had protested in Birgunj on Sunday against the vandalism that took place at a mosque in Sakhuwa Maran, Kamala Municipality-6, Dhanusha on Saturday night. In response to the protest by the Muslim community, the Hindu community also protested on Sunday night and Monday morning, resulting in tension in Birgunj.
