A welcoming and cordial meeting program has been held between the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Raxaul Chamber of Commerce of India with the aim of strengthening mutual business relations.
At a program organized by the Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry on Thursday, the association's acting president Madhav Rajpal welcomed the office bearers of the Raxaul Chamber of Commerce. Rajpal expressed serious concern over the increasing traffic jams, unorganized vehicle parking, unequal treatment and attitude of Indian security personnel towards Nepali citizens, and the Raxaul area becoming a hub for drug trafficking in the Nepal-India border area of Raxaul.
Raxaul Chamber of Commerce President Rakesh Kumar Kushwaha informed that the plan for the construction of an overbridge has been approved to permanently solve the traffic jams in the Raxaul area and the construction work will begin soon. He also said that the Raxaul police chief himself is active in controlling drug trafficking and claimed that the current situation has improved to a great extent compared to the previous time. Expressing sensitivity to the complaints raised about the behavior of the Indian police towards Nepali citizens, he also promised to take necessary initiatives in this regard in coordination with the concerned bodies.
Raxaul Chamber of Commerce General Secretary Shambhu Prasad Chaurasia said that continuous dialogue, mutual trust and cooperation between Nepal-India industrialists and businessmen are indispensable to resolve common problems in the border area.
Birgunj Chamber of Commerce and Industry Vice President Ashish Kumar Lath expressed his belief that such meetings will play an important role in strengthening trade, movement and mutual relations in the border area and stressed that such discussions and dialogues should be held in the coming days as well.
