The 19th municipal convention of Birgunj Metropolitan City concluded on Monday. The convention also passed a proposal to increase the ward budget by 25 percent, which was cut in the special convention held in Asoj.

A special session was held in Asoj after the damage to the metropolis during the Gen-G movement and protests on Bhadra 23 and 24. The special session had prioritized reconstruction as all the structures of the metropolis were damaged, and the budget of the ward was also cut.

The budget allocated for the ward by the 17th session in the current fiscal year has been approved by the current session, keeping the necessary resources for reconstruction intact, informed the Metropolitan Mayor Rajeshman Singh. He also informed about the overall income and expenditure status of the current fiscal year to date. He also said that out of the 3.22 billion rupees allocated so far, 1.13 billion rupees have been spent. 33 percent of the allocated budget has been spent so far. 34.78 percent is for current expenditure and 32.64 percent is for capital expenditure.

The Metropolitan Municipality has also set a goal of expanding Shulav drug stores and laboratories and bringing the city hospital into operation in the current fiscal year. Deputy Mayor Imtiaz Alam, ward chairmen and ward members of the metropolitan wards were present at the convention.
