Reflective stickers have been installed on various road sections in Rautahat with the aim of reducing traffic accidents caused by fog and mist in the Terai-Madhesh region.

The District Traffic Police has stated that this will make it easier for drivers. The campaign has been launched as per the ‘Youth Against Road Accidents-2082’ action plan.

Around 350 feet of reflective stickers of various colors received from the Road Division Office Chandranigahpur have been pasted on bridges, culverts and signboards along the East-West Highway from Dhansar to Bagmati Bridge and the Chandranigahpur-Gaur road section to Balchanpur area, said Rautahat District Traffic Police Chief Inspector Rajendra Thapa Magar.

‘There is a problem of fog and mist in Madhesh at the moment, which has made it very difficult for drivers,’ he said, ‘Reflective stickers make it easier to see road structures at night and in fog and help prevent accidents.’

Thapa Magar informed that the campaign was launched in collaboration with the Area Police Office Chandranigahpur and the District Traffic Police Office. According to the traffic police, there has been an increase in traffic accidents in various places in Rautahat in the past few days.

According to the District Traffic Police Office Chandranigahapur, 475 vehicle accidents have occurred across the district in the five months since Shrawan. 25 people have died and 1,039 have been injured in these accidents.

During the same period, 4,054 vehicles have been taken into action for violating traffic rules. The District Traffic Police Office has stated that a fine of Rs 3.8 million has been collected from these vehicles.
