Network support for Sunita's family

The District-Level Gender Violence Control Network has provided cash assistance to the family of Sunita Syangbo, an employee of Trishala Hotel, who was found dead at a hospice in Birgunj's Old Bus Park on November 11.

The coordinator of the network at the District Police Office, Parsa, Superintendent of Police Sudip Raj Pathak and other members jointly handed over a check of Rs 50,050 to Sunita's mother, Kanchhi Maya Syangbo, on Sunday.

Earlier, relatives and locals of 21-year-old Syangbo of Jhabaraha, Parsagarhi Municipality-3, had protested in Birgunj on Wednesday, demanding an investigation into the death of her and action against the culprits.

The fund currently has Rs 3.411 million in its balance. Superintendent of Police Pathak said that the amount will be distributed as relief to victims of gender-based violence.
