A proposal has been submitted for the vacant post of Speaker of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly. Two proposals were submitted for the Speaker position in the Provincial Assembly meeting held on Sunday.

Nepali Congress Provincial Assembly member Birendra Singh has submitted a proposal to make Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal's Ram Ashish Yadav the Speaker. This proposal has been supported by CPN-Maoist Center's Provincial Assembly member Fakira Mahato.

Similarly, CPN-UML's Triloki Prasad Yadav has been proposed by his own party MP Sharada Devi Thapa to make him the Speaker, and he has been supported by Jayachandra Prasad Patel.

Speaker Ramachandra Mandal was removed from office on November 19 for not behaving in a manner befitting his position.

Voting for the election of the Speaker is scheduled to take place today.
