Janata Samajwadi Party Nepal Chief Whip Ram Ashish Yadav has filed his candidacy for the post of Speaker of the Madhesh Provincial Assembly today.
He has filed his candidacy with the support of seven parties. His proposer is Birendra Singh of the Nepali Congress and his seconder is Fakira Mahato of the Maoist Center, informed Provincial Assembly Secretary Basuprasad Koirala.
The then Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal was removed from office after a no-confidence motion was passed by two-thirds of the Provincial Assembly. A no-confidence motion was filed against him by a seven-party alliance on 27 Kartik, alleging that he had not behaved in a manner befitting his office. The election for the post of Speaker will be held tomorrow.
