Even after three and a half years since the attempted murder of 57-year-old Kisan Khang of Kamalpur, Rajgadh Rural Municipality-2, Saptari, with a khukuri, he has not received justice.

He has been wandering for justice since 16 Baisakh 2079. On 27 Chaitra 2078, while he was threshing wheat, Panchu Khang, 59, along with his family members, had come out of his house and attacked the farmer with a khukuri on his back on the pretext that chaff had blown away the onion field of the same place.

He was seriously injured by the khukuri attack and was taken to Gajendra Narayan Singh Hospital, Rajbiraj for treatment, but treatment was not possible there. He was admitted to Chinnamasta Hospital in Rajbiraj for further treatment and returned home a week later.

However, the farmer said that 550,000 rupees had been spent on the treatment and the ‘steel’ inserted in his back during the treatment could not be removed yet due to financial constraints. ‘The doctor had suggested that the ‘steel’ in his back should be removed within a year.’ "It is very difficult to sit up because I cannot remove the 'slit'," he said. "Even when there was an attack on me to kill myself, the case has been postponed due to lack of police support."

He complains that the accused are still roaming freely in the village and the police have been reluctant to arrest them even though one of them is working regularly at a school. "When I go to the district police station and show my documents, they tell me to go to the police station to lie. But when I get there, they scold me. I have been wandering here and there for 3 and a half years," he said. "I support my family by selling vegetables. I have appealed everywhere for justice, but I have not received any help from anywhere."

After the accused did not appear within the 35-day deadline issued by the district court and the police were unable to arrest them, a bench of Judge Shyam Bihari Maurya adjourned the murder case on 1 Chaitra 2079 BS to freeze the property in the name of the accused.

Among the accused, Panchu has been working regularly at Khublal Jagarnath Shakti Basic School, Kamalpur since 2053 BS. The school's principal, Rabindra Yadav, said that he was an office assistant there. 'I am not aware of any murder case against him,' said Principal Yadav, 'He comes to school regularly.'

According to the charge sheet, Panchu's 53-year-old wife Anandi Devi, 23-year-old daughter Kajal Kumari and 21-year-old son Rajiv beat Kishan out of the house, and Panchu stabbed him in the back with a khukuri. District Police Spokesperson DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri said that he would be able to respond to this issue after understanding it. "Since it is an old incident, it should be understood," he said.
