Seven parties have reached an agreement to select a new Speaker and expand the cabinet even before Madhesh Province Chief Minister Krishna Prasad Yadav takes a vote of confidence.
As per the agreement, Chief Minister Yadav is preparing to expand the cabinet on Monday. Similarly, a meeting of the Provincial Assembly has been called for 1 pm on Poush 2 to select the Speaker. Chief Minister Yadav said that he will take a vote of confidence in the Provincial Assembly meeting to be held on Poush 4 at 4 pm.
Maoist Center MP Yubaraj Bhattarai said that there is a high possibility of expanding the cabinet on Monday itself. He said that although the main agenda of the meeting of the seven parties held in the morning was to take a vote of confidence, discussions were also held on the expansion of the cabinet and the selection of the Speaker. 'The parties are in internal consultation to finalize the names of the ministers. The responsibility of distributing the ministries has been given to the Chief Minister,' he said, 'If everything is finalized, the cabinet can be expanded today.'
Seven parties have already agreed to give the Speaker to JSP Nepal. Preparations are underway to make Chief Whip Ramashish Yadav the Speaker from JSP Nepal. Jaspal Nepal's Chief Whip Yadav informed that in a party meeting held at the Provincial Assembly Secretariat on Monday under the chairmanship of Deputy Speaker Babita Raut Iser, it was agreed to move forward with the process of selecting the Speaker. He said that a meeting of the Provincial Assembly has been called on Poush 2 to select the Speaker.
The then Speaker of Madhesh, Ram Chandra Mandal, was removed from office on a proposal by seven parties for not behaving in a manner that was in keeping with his position.
