Birgunj Metropolitan City has removed shops that were temporarily operating by encroaching on BP Park located next to Ghantaghar Chowk.
Metropolitan Mayor Rajeshman Singh said that the park is being further organized by removing the fruit, vegetable and other shops in the main city. He said that the park next to the clock tower is being removed as it is unorganized due to the fruit, vegetable and other temporary shops. He said that the park is being built by removing them. 'We have started the work of removing the unorganized market this morning using excavators. Those who have been doing business here are working on removing the debris,' said Metropolitan Mayor Singh.
More than 250 people were doing business here in temporary houses, vegetable, fruit and clothing shops and various food stalls. Metropolitan Mayor Singh said that now they will move forward with a plan to build a beautiful and green park by spending about Rs 700 million. He informed that the necessary infrastructure has been prepared on the railway road in Chhapakaiya for those who have been removed from here.
The market has been cleared since this morning in the heavy presence of the Municipal Police, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force.
