The court has ordered a stay on the bribery case of suspended mayor of Kalyanpur Municipality in Siraha, Rampukar Sah. The special court issued the order while hearing the case on Sunday.
Information Officer Yagyaraj Regmi informed that the second bench of the court, comprising Judges Narayan Prasad Poudel and Hemant Rawal, had given such an order. This means that since there are other issues related to Sah's case, they should also be taken together.
Mayor Sah was arrested by the CIAA team from the municipality office on Ashad 32 while he was taking a bribe of one lakh rupees from the consumer committee of the drain built with a budget of two million rupees in Bhokraha, Kalyanpur Municipality-6.
The consumer committee chairperson Jasodha Kumari and local Kusheshwar Sah, who was given the responsibility of working after the decision by the consumer committee, had jointly filed a complaint with the CIAA. However, although Kusheshwar remained adamant, Josodha changed her statement during the deposition in the special court on Kartik 5, saying that she did not know anything.
The CIAA has filed a case against Jashoda on November 26, demanding that she be sentenced to imprisonment and fined as per the provisions of Section 3, Sub-section (3) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS, as per the provisions of Section 3, Sub-section (1) (b) of the same Act, as per the order.
Now, with this order, Jashoda's case will also be filed with Sah's case, said Information Officer Regmi. The CIAA had filed a case against Sah in the Special Court on July 23 for corruption by accepting bribes.
The Commission has demanded a fine of Rs. 100,000 and imprisonment as per the provisions of Section 3, Sub-section (1) (b) of Section 3, Sub-section (1) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS.
