UML leader Shivshankar Sah Hira has been arrested in a case of rape of a minor. UML leader Hira was arrested from Sitamarhi, India, on Tuesday evening and taken to Dhanusha police custody.
The girl is accused of raping her in a hotel in Janakpurdham immediately after her wedding day. Hira's brother Manoj Shah was arrested from Kathmandu a few days ago in the same case.
Hira was a candidate for Janakpurdham mayor in 2079 BS from UML. He is also the former president of the Madhesh Province Chamber of Commerce and Industry. Apart from these, Falsom Cafe manager Amit Thakur and the girl's maternal uncle have also been arrested in the same case.
The girl is currently staying in a safe house. Further investigation is underway based on the complaint she gave.
Dhanusha Police SP Rugam Kunwar confirmed that Shah had arrested the minor.
