A seven-party alliance has reached an agreement to form a new government in Madhesh Province. Leaders of the seven parties have said that they have reached an agreement even though the Congress and the LSP are still claiming the post of Chief Minister.
JSP Nepal Chief Whip Ram Ashish Yadav said that the claims of Krishna Prasad Yadav of the Congress and Jitendra Sonal of the LSP for the post of Chief Minister are still valid. ‘Both of them still have their claims.’ However, both of them have said that the decision made by the seven-party alliance will be valid,’ Yadav said, ‘We are almost close to an agreement. We will meet again today and finalize it.’
An MP who participated in the meeting said that the seven-party alliance has reached an agreement to form a new government led by the Congress. ‘It has almost been agreed to move forward by giving the leadership of the government to the Congress,’ the MP said, ‘It has been kept secret so that the UML and others can play when it is brought out.’
After the meeting of the seven parties held late on Thursday night, the leaders and MPs who came out excitedly said that ‘all issues have been resolved and we will submit a claim to form the government to the provincial chief at 3 pm on Friday.’
In accordance with the Supreme Court's order to hold a vote of confidence within 24 hours or else call for the formation of a new government as per Article 168(2) of the Constitution, a letter issued by Madhesh Province Chief Surendra Labh Karna has given time till 5 pm on Friday to submit a claim for the government.
