The Saptari administration has instructed the police to increase surveillance, citing the possibility of foreign nationals entering the border illegally.
The District Administration Office issued a notice on Wednesday, directing the authorities to conduct detailed checks at open borders. In the notice, Nepal and the Armed Police Force have been asked to make arrangements to keep records of foreign nationals who have come or not from the 78-kilometer border crossing with their identity cards and other identity documents.
Instructions have been issued to conduct intensive security patrols to continuously monitor illegal activities by foreign nationals in the district, and to mobilize security personnel to collect information about illegal activities of foreign nationals and bring them to justice.
The administration has also urged the locals to inform the police when any suspicious students come to school under the pretext of studying, and to hold public awareness programs at the local level on the possibility of foreign nationals entering the country illegally.
Hotel entrepreneurs have been urged to make arrangements to allow all visitors to stay only with identity documents, and to inform political parties, civic leaders, public representatives, social workers and locals if they see any propaganda of foreign religions and anti-religious activities.
The Federation of Nepali Journalists has also been urged to disseminate information about possible illegal activities by foreign nationals.
