Madhes Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav (Mahottari) is seeking a vote of confidence in the provincial assembly meeting to be held on Wednesday morning, after the Supreme Court issued a mandate to seek a vote of confidence within 24 hours.

A meeting of the Working Advisory Committee will be held shortly before the Provincial Assembly meeting called at 6:30 am for the vote of confidence.

JSP Nepal Chief Whip Ram Ashish Yadav said that he has reached the Provincial Assembly Secretariat to participate in the Working Advisory Committee meeting. ‘We have reached the Provincial Assembly Secretariat,’ Yadav said, ‘The Working Advisory Committee meeting will begin shortly.’

The Working Advisory Committee sets the agenda of the Provincial Assembly meeting. According to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat, only the vote of confidence will be included in the agenda of the meeting. Chief Minister Yadav had written a letter to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat to fix the time for the vote of confidence at 2 pm on Wednesday, saying that he received the mandate letter only at 3 pm on Tuesday. However, the secretariat has called the Provincial Assembly meeting at 8:30 am on Wednesday.

Congress Chief Whip Kunwar Kant Jha said that seven parties will vote against Chief Minister Yadav’s vote of confidence. ‘Seven parties will vote against the vote of confidence. We are together,’ he said.

RPP MP Kanchan Bichha will lose her MP post from today’s meeting. Taking action against Bichha, who joined the UML government without the party’s decision and became the Minister of Forest and Environment, the RPP has already sent a letter to the Provincial Assembly Secretariat to remove her from the Provincial Assembly.
