Janakpur, which has been forced to airlift heart patients, has started its first cath lab service. The cath lab was inaugurated at Arogya Niketan Hospital here on Tuesday.

At a press conference organized by the hospital, Arogya Niketan Chairman Dr. Gaurang Mishra said that the operation of a well-equipped cath lab in Janakpur will help prevent the high mortality rate due to heart disease. He informed that along with the cath lab, modern ICU and CCU rooms have also been put into operation.

‘It was necessary to immediately airlift serious heart patients to Kathmandu or elsewhere,’ Dr. Mishra said, ‘Patients with heart attacks will now receive intensive care in Janakpur.’ The hospital has stated that the team of cardiologists Dr. Amit Singh and Dr. Rajesh Sah will treat them at Arogya Niketan Hospital.
