According to branch chief Shambhu Prasad Shah, a total of 33 drug stores, including 19 in Makawanpur on Tuesday and 14 in Sindhuli district on Wednesday, were monitored. During the monitoring, information was targeted on whether the drug stores were registered or not, whether the pharmacist or businessman himself was present in the store, whether or not they sold drugs and psychotropic substances by keeping records, and whether or not they stocked medicines not registered with the Drug Management Department.
A team of inspectors Rajina Shrestha and Mukesh Kumar Raut of the office conducted the monitoring. No complaints were found in the drug stores in Sindhuli, according to branch chief Shah.
During a monitoring in Makawanpur, four drug stores were found to be without pharmacists, and the stores were immediately closed and they were instructed to appear in the office with an explanation, said Sah.
The office's jurisdiction includes 6 districts in Madhesh Province except Siraha and Saptari, and 9 districts in Bagmati Province including Chitwan, Makawanpur and Sindhuli.
