Indian arrested with Rs 1 million in cash, source unknown

An Indian national has been arrested from the Birgunj border crossing with an undisclosed amount of money. The arrested person has been identified as Surendra Sah, 53, of Raxaul Municipality-1, Motihari district, Bihar, India.

The police arrested him with a bill of exchange worth Rs 1 million. 

A checking team deployed on a special tip-off arrested him from Birgunj Mahaganarpalika-16 Rajatjayanti Chowk on Friday. During the road check, the amount was recovered from Sah's motorcycle bearing the number Madhesh Province 03 025 Pa 9807. The undisclosed amount was recovered from the air filter on the left side of the motorcycle. Among the seized amount were 700 Nepali rupees of 1,000 denomination and 600 Nepali rupees of 500 denomination notes. 

Parsa Police Spokesperson DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet informed that Sah has been taken into custody along with the cash and the motorcycle and necessary investigation is underway.
