The Madhesh Province government is preparing to provide relief to youth and farmers. On Wednesday, Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav held a press conference and said that despite proposing to provide allowances to educated unemployed youth of the province and relief to affected farmers, a decision could not be taken due to the Supreme Court order.

Chief Minister Yadav said that preparations are underway to provide Rs 2,000 per month to unemployed youth who have graduated and Rs 1,500 per kaththa as relief to farmers whose paddy crops have been damaged due to rain and flooding.

Yadav said that although these two proposals were taken up in the cabinet meeting, the Supreme Court could not take a decision because it would have long-term effects on the Madheb government and an interim order was issued to prevent it from making policy decisions. He said that discussions are underway with legal experts on the matter.

The first cabinet meeting of the Yadav-led government had taken two decisions. It was decided to form a committee to organize the Bivah Panchami festival and to make the supply and distribution of chemical fertilizers within the province transparent and result-oriented as per the Fertilizer Distribution Management Procedure of Grants, 2082 approved by the Government of Nepal.
