One person dies after being hit by a rice threshing machine

A motorcyclist has died after a paddy threshing machine hit his bike in Mahagadhimai, Bara.

The incident took place on Monday night at Dharampur Bhutahi Bridge near Bariyar Inarwa Chowk in Mahagadhimai Municipality along the East-West Postal Route.

A machine moving east from Inarwa Chowk hit the bike. Rupesh Sah Sonar, 22, of Gamhariya village, Maulapur Municipality-3, Rautahat, died on the spot. His brother-in-law, Sunil Sah Sonar, 26, of Kolhabi Bazaar, Bara, who was riding the bike with him, was seriously injured. He has been sent to Kathmandu for further treatment. They were going to Benauli for a wedding from Paterwa.

The Apache bike driven by Rupesh was completely destroyed by fire, even the number plate could not be found, according to the police. 

The driver of the Kampan machine bearing number 8320 of Madhesh Province 03-001 is absconding. The machine is under police control. A search is underway for the absconding driver, said Deputy Superintendent of Police Vijayraj Pandit, spokesperson for the District Police Office.
