Police have arrested a person from Pakahamainpur Rural Municipality of Parsa with undisclosed amounts of money.
Awadhesh Patel, 34, of Pakahamainpur Rural Municipality-1, Dhore, was arrested with Rs 1.5 million in cash.
Based on a special tip-off, a joint checking team deployed from Police Post Dhore and Armed Police Force Nepal, while conducting a check at the Pakahamainpur Rural Municipality-1 Dhore check point at 2:30 pm on Sunday, Patel, riding a motorcycle with Indian number 22 AF 4126, was arrested while keeping the amount wrapped in black plastic inside a bag in the leg guard of the motorcycle.
The seized amount includes 790 pieces of 1,000 denomination notes worth Rs 790,000, 1,301 pieces of 500 denomination notes worth Rs 650,500, 569 pieces of 100 denomination notes worth Rs 56,900, 50 pieces of 50 denomination notes worth Rs 2,500 and 5 pieces of 20 denomination notes worth Rs 100, totaling Rs 1.5 million.
Parsa Police Spokesperson DSP Hari Bahadur Basnet informed that further investigation is underway into the crime of not engaging in hundi-related transactions as per Section 125 (a) of the Criminal Code 2074 BS, after Patel was taken into custody along with his motorcycle.
