A person was arrested with about 10 quintals of marijuana in Saptari on Thursday night. The arrested person has been identified as Sandesh Shrestha, 25, of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-13, Sunsari.

Shrestha was arrested from Baramjhiya, Kanchanrup Municipality-2, in the district, while he was on his way from Fatehpur to Bhardaha on the East-West Highway, loaded with 978 kg of marijuana, DSP Madhav Prasad Kafle of the Area Police Office, Kanchanpur, informed.

A joint team led by DSP Dambar Bahadur Puri and DSP Kafle seized the marijuana packed in 28 plastic bags. It is said that further investigation is underway in the matter.

Earlier, about 8 quintals of marijuana were also seized on Shrawan 4 and 23. 396.9 kg of marijuana was seized from Mahadeva Tole, Dakneshwari Municipality-5 in the district and 388.73 kg of marijuana was also seized from the house of 40-year-old Rekha Kumari Mandal of Nargho Pachwari Tole, Rajgadh Rural Municipality-3.
