Madhesh Speaker Mandal relieved of his post

Madhesh Province Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal has been relieved of his post. A resolution was passed by two-thirds of the provincial assembly meeting held on Wednesday, accusing him of not behaving in accordance with the position assigned to him.

76 provincial assembly members voted against the speaker, that is, in favor of not behaving according to his position. There were zero votes against him. Speaker Mandal is absent from the meeting today. Currently, there are 104 provincial assembly members in the Madhesh provincial assembly. Of which two-thirds are 72 votes.

On November 27, 64 provincial assembly members from seven parties registered a motion against him for not acting according to his position. The opposition to the speaker included the Congress, JSP, Janmat, Maoist Center, LSP, Unified Socialist Party and Civil Liberties Union. UML, RPP and Nepal Federal Socialist Party lawmakers are also absent today.

Earlier, Mandal had lost his position in his first term as a provincial assembly member. In his first term, he was elected from the Maoist Center. The Left united and became the NCP. Then, after the collapse of the Left Unity, he was removed from office after three and a half years because he did not join the Maoists and joined the UML.
