UML holds sit-in in Madhesh, asking the Chief Minister to 'let him do his job'

Seven political parties have continued their sit-in for the ninth day, saying that the government formed under the leadership of the UML is not constitutional and that Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal has not behaved in a party-friendly manner.

Madhesh Province Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav (Mahottari) has started a sit-in protest in Janakpur on Tuesday, demanding that his party UML be allowed to work.

UML leaders and activists are sitting on a dharna in the Janak Temple premises in Janakpur. They are sitting on a dharna saying that let's protect the constitution and let Chief Minister Yadav work. 

74 MPs, including Congress parliamentary party leader Krishna Prasad Yadav, had filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court, saying that the formation of the Yadav-led government is unconstitutional. An interim order was also issued in the same dispute last Tuesday. The Supreme Court also asked Chief Minister-designate Yadav not to make long-term decisions. 

The hearing of the writ petition registered in the dispute regarding the formation of the Madhesh province government is being held today in the bench of Justices Hakul Subedi and Sunil Kumar Pokharel.

Meanwhile, 7 parties continued their sit-in in Janakpur for the 9th day on Tuesday. The 7 parties have started the agitation in Madhesh, saying that the government formed under the leadership of UML in Madhesh province is unconstitutional and that Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal has not behaved in a party-friendly manner.

Leaders and activists of seven political parties have been protesting at the main gate of Madhesh Bhavan, the headquarters of the Madhesh Provincial Government, for the ninth day.
