Seven protesting parties continued their sit-in protest in Janakpur for the ninth day on Tuesday, awaiting the verdict of the writ petition filed in the Supreme Court against the Madhesh Province government.

A writ petition was filed in the Supreme Court by 74 lawmakers, including Congress parliamentary party leader Krishna Prasad Yadav, claiming that the formation of the government was unconstitutional. The writ, which is currently under hearing in the Supreme Court, has been scheduled to be heard on Tuesday.

Seven parties have started a movement in Madhesh, saying that the government formed under the leadership of UML in Madhesh Province is unconstitutional and that Speaker Ram Chandra Mandal has not behaved in a party-friendly manner. 

Leaders and activists of seven parties have been sitting on a dharna at the main gate of Madhesh Bhavan, the headquarters of the Madhesh Province Government, for the ninth day. JSP Nepal Chief Whip Ram Ashish Yadav said that they were also sitting on a peaceful dharna on Tuesday, awaiting the Supreme Court's verdict.
