A ward chairman has been shot dead by the police in Dhanusha. Bindeshwor Yadav, the ward chairman of Mithila Bihari Municipality-9, was shot dead by Shambhu Yadav, a resident of the village who worked in the Dhanusha police.
He has been taken into custody by Dhanusha police. Locals have said that the ward chairman was murdered while he was trying to resolve a dispute between two parties at a Shraddha feast in the village. Locals said that the policeman who committed the murder was also from the same village.
Dhanusha police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police Ganesh Bahadur Bam said that full details about the incident have not been released. However, he said that one ward chairman died and two were injured.
The injured are being treated at the provincial hospital.
