The police have produced the ward chairman in court for remand in connection with the vandalism of a Dalit family's house in Arang, Kalyanpur Municipality-8, Siraha. The police have taken ward chairman Ramkishore Yadav under control and produced him in court.

DSP Ramesh Bahadur Pal, spokesperson of the District Police Office, Siraha, said that Ward Chairman Yadav was taken into custody as per the law and presented in court for detention. In Arang, on the afternoon of Asoj 17, a group of more than 50 people vandalized and looted the houses of five Paswan families, including locals Rajkumar Paswan, Raslal Paswan, Ashok Paswan, Binde Paswan and Sobhit Paswan, displacing them.

In this incident, a complaint was registered at the Area Police Office, Mirchaiya against Ward Chairman Yadav, elected in the ward by the Nepali Congress, locals Prabhas Singh, Nitesh Singh, Shailendra Singh, Rajkumar Singh, Manoj Yadav, Kailash Singh, Ganesh Kamati, Mustafa Rain and 13 others for criminal harassment and caste-based untouchability.

Of which, Ward Chairman Yadav, Ganesh and Kailash were arrested on Asoj 18 the day after the incident, while Manoj was arrested by the police on Asoj 20. In which the ward chairman was released on bail citing illness during the investigation of the case, while Kailash Singh was released on bail and Ganesh and Manoj have been sent to jail for remand.

Ward chairman Yadav, on the other hand, was arrested after he failed to appear in the court.
