Youths have staged a sit-in in front of the Madhesh Provincial Government's 'Madhesh Bhavan'. On Sunday evening, the youths staged a sit-in in front of the Madhesh Bhavan with 'play cards'. Earlier, they had reached the office of the provincial chief to hold a sit-in.

However, at the request of security personnel, they moved from there and staged a sit-in in front of the main gate of Madhesh Bhavan.

They are demanding that a new government be formed in Madhesh Province as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution. The youth were carrying a placard saying, "The constitution cannot be violated, call for the formation of a new government as per Article 168 (2) of the Constitution."

Youth protest in front of Madhesh Bhavan Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonar (Sonal) had presented a vote of confidence motion in the Madhesh Province Assembly on Saturday. However, before the vote was divided, he had announced his resignation saying that there was no environment for a vote of confidence. Since then, the Sonal-backed parties have been demanding that a new government be formed again as per the same article since the vote of confidence has not been lost.

However, the CPN (UML) has made it clear that the said article has failed and that the largest party should lead the government as per the new article. The Nepali Congress, on the other hand, is trying to form an all-party government.

Sonal was appointed as the Chief Minister on Asoj 29 last year with the support of 56 MPs. However, Sonal resigned before the voting process began after the ruling party's MPs refused to vote and some MPs were absent. The provincial chief has not yet called for the formation of a new government. Provincial chief Sumitra Bhandari is consulting with various political parties and experts.
