Sonal had submitted a motion of confidence in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly on Saturday. However, he announced his resignation before the voting process began as it appeared he would not receive a vote of confidence.
Madhesh Province Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonar (Sonal) has submitted his resignation to the office of the provincial chief. He submitted his resignation letter to provincial chief Sumitra Bhandari on Saturday evening.
Sonal had submitted a confidence motion in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly on Saturday. However, he announced his resignation before the voting process began as it appeared he would not get the confidence vote.
‘I have resigned from the post of Chief Minister of Madhesh Province. I express my heartfelt gratitude for the support I received from everyone during my tenure as Chief Minister,’ his resignation letter states.
Even though Sonal resigned, the office of the provincial chief has not officially announced that her resignation has been accepted.
