The government led by Madhesh Pradesh Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonar (Sonal) is facing a crisis. The Sonal government is facing a crisis after two MPs from the CPN-Maoist Center announced a rebellion on the day of the vote of confidence.

On Saturday, CPN-Maoist Centre MPs Rahbar Ansari and Mala Karna had announced that they would not vote in favor/opposition. The Sonal government needs 53 votes. However, it seems that Sonal will get only 52 votes. JSP has 18, Janmat has 11, NCP-Maoist has 7, NCP-S has 7, LSP has 8 and Nagarik Unmukti has one.

Sonal was appointed as the Chief Minister on Asoj 29 with the support of 56 MPs. Out of that 56, the current Chief Minister Satish Kumar Singh and Tribhuvan Sah have chosen Janaswaraj and are absent from the Provincial Assembly today. JSP MP Saroj Singh Kushwaha has been suspended. And, two Maoist MPs have already announced that they will rebel by announcing that they will not vote.

There are currently 104 members in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly. Four MPs are absent today. Chief Minister Sonal had requested all the MPs to vote unanimously today.
