The 62-kilometer open border in Bara will be closed for three days for security reasons ahead of the second phase of assembly elections in the Indian state of Bihar, scheduled to be held on November 11.

The District Administration Office, Bara, has published a public notice stating that it will remain closed from 6 pm on Saturday to 6 pm on Monday (from November 22 to 25).

According to Chief District Officer Dharmendra Kumar Mishra, the border checkpoint will remain closed as per the decision of the Nepal-India Border Coordination Meeting.

The decision was taken by a meeting of security officials of both countries at the request of the officer of the counterpart office of Bihar. Pradya Mishra said that all movement except emergency movement will remain closed.
