The Madhesh Provincial Government has started its homework to protect citizens from disasters and risks. The Madhesh Government has also increased its activity to reduce potential disasters and risks.

On Wednesday evening, Chief Minister Jitendra Prasad Sonar (Sonal) said that the provincial government is fully prepared to face the upcoming disaster. The Department of Hydrology and Meteorology has estimated that the weather in Madhesh Province will worsen from Kartik 13 to 15. 

The department estimates that Saptakoshi, Bagmati, Kamala, Ratu, Lakhandeh and Lal Bakaiya in Madhesh Province may reach danger levels. ‘The provincial government is fully prepared to face this situation. Disaster rescue teams of Madhesh Province Police, Armed Police Force and Nepal Army have been kept on standby in potential risk areas,’ said Chief Minister Sonal, ‘The storage of necessary boats, life jackets and other rescue materials has been ensured.’ The Chief Minister said that he is also creating an environment of cooperation by continuously contacting the concerned local levels.

Chief Minister Sonal has requested the people of the province to adopt high alert. He also appealed to move the settlements on the banks of the river and at risk of inundation to higher places. He requested to go to dharamshalas, schools and public buildings for some time.

He drew the attention of Madhesh citizens not to cross rivers, streams and canals. ‘Let’s not cut the rice immediately, if it has been cut, let’s quickly bring it home,’ said Chief Minister Sonal.
